Blessing the village fields – the blessing of the wheat – is rooted in tradition going back several mil-lennia. Over time, it became an integral part of Christian religious practice, and now it is an organic component of both the Latin- and the Byzantine-Rite. The Hungarian Greek Catholic community cheris-hes and continues this millennia-long tradition, preserving, proclaiming and transmitting its message from year to year.
